Spring is officially around the corner. What does this mean for me? Painting time! Outdoor time for our family! Finally!! This cold Michigan weather has been keeping us inside for the most part. 47 degrees and sunny in Michigan feels like 70 degrees to us! 🙂 For now, will need to do some painting inside.
Yesterday I had to come home early from the office, so I took full advantage! I set up the kiddies and myself a paint area in our sun room, aka, craft room so we could start painting! My oldest son painted a dinosaur figurine he had since we saw this cool thing on Pinterest. My youngest finger painted on his high chair. He was done once he decided to eat the paint, yuck! I started to repaint my brown hutch that has been screaming “help me!” for too long now. I just started with the drawers and doors. Although it is still in works, the color looks awesome!! When I can bring this bad boy outside, I will finish the rest of him 🙂
I was also getting pretty board with some of my wall art. I took a previously loved picture I had and painted over the top of it. I used some Valspar samples I bought at Aco Hardware for only .99 cents each! Normally the are $4.99!! I really have to go back and stock up before the sale ends!! I painted over the entire picture with white paint (Brushed Cotton). Then I used painter’s tape and made striped patterns about the same size and painted the stripes navy (Majestic Peak). Lastly I made my own stencil by drawing a picture of an anchor on a piece of cardboard and cut out the inside of my pattern. I spray painted the anchor onto the picture with a brassy colored spray paint I also purchased at Aco. Check it out!
Back to the business aspect :)…..My Mom and I are diligently working on promoting our work online. She has been positing our furniture pieces on Facebook and HGTV’s site as well to get our name out there and get feedback on our pieces to see which items are a hit with the mass public. So far, in the running are the metallic silver dresser and the grey dresser with hand painted white birds on it!
We received a few inquiries about purchasing the items we have on Facebook, which is amazing! Next step is to start refinishing pieces to sell!! This weather is going to be breaking soon so I can start looking for pieces to paint and start stocking my inventory! First on the list is to find a buffet like the one here to replicate for a friend! Wish me luck 😉
